I remember Christmas’s as a kid at plain road and the house before that too, uncle Mick being a larger than life character, always making everyone laugh. He was rude and swore a lot, making me and little Jenni giggle. I don’t remember many Christmas’s as a kid but I remember, I loved going to see Uncle Mick and Aunty Rose at Christmas and sitting on that huge soft patchwork sofa.

I remember how wonderful he was with my kids when they were little, particularly Millie and Finley. Who, I think both idolised him a little and loved having rides on his wheelchair! I remember Millie potty training and she missed her potty and pooed on the carpet and Uncle Mick just cracked up and told her it was ok and that he does that too, I remember thinking I loved him for that.

I remember sitting talking about music with uncle Mick, him showing me all his favourites from his vast music collection. It was a subject that got him really animated and I was always a captive audience. He once got upset with me for not having the entire back catalogue of the wedding present. Next time I went round he had brought them for me, it made my year.  My kids have grown up loving the wedding present and that’s thanks those CD’s that were always on in my car.

I always used to look forward to the crap Christmas gifts we used to send each other, I’d spend all year looking for the most perfect, crappest present I could find. One year I brought him lady Diana’s funeral music on CD, he said it was the worse present so far, I told him I’d learnt from the master……………inevitably I got it back the following year. I think my favourite worse present from him was The Beatles on panpipes and songs my William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy! I also loved that he had a Genesis cd still wrapped in cellophane.

To me my Uncle Mick was one of the kindest, funniest men Ive know and he taught me how to swear like a pro, the art of piss taking and most importantly my great taste in music.

Millie wanted to say she always remembers having lovely times round Uncle Mick and Aunty Roses house. She has a fond memories of playing pretend cooking with bubbles and water, with Uncle Mick making her laugh as he sat in the garden with her. She said she loved how he was never serious and always took the piss. She loved him loads.

Olive said to her he was an very iconic member of the family and she was and always will be inspired by him, all he had going on but was still able to always make her laugh. She doesn’t ever remember seeing him sad and she thought he was a lovely man.

Fin said as a kid he thought Uncle Mick was a Bond villain because of his wheelchair, which made me laugh. He also said he always had a big smile and was very funny.

We all miss and love him very much
