Your dad was the most wonderful man, whenever I visited Folkestone it was always one of my priorities to go and sit with him and talk bollocks for a few hours. The time always flew by and I always wished I could stay longer as we talked about great films to watch and shite to avoid, he was one of the few people that I could freely geek-out with and talk about all my new gadgets and tech without him glazing over. We’d happily talk for hours about MotoGP and of course The Wedding Present, I was so thrilled that he’d finally got see them live in the last couple of years. I remember texting him the morning after he first saw them asking if it was everything he’d hoped for. He then relayed the entire setlist and told me that it was a dream come true. He will always be so much more than an uncle to me. There are few people in this world who leave such a lasting impact on those around them, but my Uncle Mick was definitely one of them, I doubt I could pick a favourite memory as there’s just too many, the stories he told, the stitch-ups he did!
Sleep well you beautiful bastard!
